My After-Work Relaxation Routine
Some days I get home from work and I am just utterly exhausted. As an introvert, sometimes it takes a lot out of me to be around people all day, either in person or on the phone. So every day, I do some kind of relaxation to resolve any leftover stress or anxiety.

A few times a week, I try and make it to my local gym right after work. The last few visits, I’ve just been putting in my headphones and walking a couple miles on the treadmill. Some days I lift weights, do some yoga, or another cardio machine. I use exercise as a stress and anxiety reliever. It’s a great way to get some alone time and boost those endorphins. (Which make you happy… and happy people just don’t shoot their husbands. They just don’t. Comment below if you know where that’s from!)
When I get home, I eat dinner, either something I’ve picked up or something I can easily prepare. I’ve been very anti-cooking recently, mostly because I’ve been anti-cleaning. I tend to do a standard formula: some form of chicken, a vegetable or two, and maybe a potato, rice, or pasta. I stopped drinking soda, so I usually have a La Croix or good old tap water.
I make sure to take all my makeup off and thoroughly wash and moisturize my face. A good routine is important to the health of your skin – on your face AND body. Sometimes I do a face mask (like the one you can get from our giveaway!) if my skin needs some extra help.
Once I’m fed and cleansed, I usually turn to the couch or get in bed. If I’m on the couch, I’m watching Netflix. Currently I’ve been re-watching Charmed, but because I’ve seen it so many times, I started with season 8 and then went to season 6. Oops. While I’m watching TV, I update my planner with anything new, and go through my to-do lists. I love crossing things off and feeling accomplished!
While I’m puttering around my bedroom and bathroom getting ready for bed, I light a candle and turn on my lamp instead of my overhead light. Dimmer lights and soothing scents really comfort me and make me ready to have a good night’s rest. The Signature Soy line at Target has some of my favorite candles – I have Peach Prosecco and Sangria Sunset.
A big tip for relaxing before bed – turn both your laptop and phone on Do Not Disturb mode. No notifications until the morning!
